OnePlus yesterday held its official launch event for the new models of its phones, OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. The specs of these new phone models have been published in advance online, so there were no surprises in terms of the innovations that these models will bring.
We are already used to OnePlus and the fact that every year they releases one of the most interesting Android series on the market. The presentation during the first years was to offer as many elite options at the lowest possible prices. But it seems that OnePlus is no longer shy and openly is showing its ambitions.
OnePlus 8 & OnePlus 8 Pro Specs
OnePlus 8
The OnePlus 8 is a more upgraded version of last year’s 7T while the 8 Pro is the bet where the company hopes more without sparing anything at last. OnePlus 8 comes with Snapdragon 865, up to 12 GB RAM, 6.55-inch AMOLED FHD+ display limited at 90Hz refresh rate that has HDR support, 4300 mAh battery and Android-based OxygenOS. Both the standard and the Pro model this time comes with 5G connectivity support.
As for the design, it has a curved glass screen and an “punch-hole” notch that we are already used seeing in may devices. Is also offered in a new color by the company, the Interstellar Glow, and you still get Onyx Black and Glacial Green from the company.
As related to the camera department, it packs three cameras on the back, 48MP main sensor, a 16MP ultra-wide sensor, and an 8MP sensor. At the front is included a 16 MP “punch-hole” selfie camera.
Included in the box, of course is an Warp Charge 30T for 30W wired fast charging, that has becoming a necessity these days but unfortunately it lacks of wireless charging technology and has not an IP68 rating unlike the Pro model.
OnePlus 8 Pro
The premium flagship, OnePlus 8 Pro in addition to the above brings a beauty called Fluid AMOLED 6.78-inch 120Hz QHD+ display, runs on the high-end Snapdragon 865 processor, more interesting camera, larger battery and finally wireless charging this time 30Wat. The more expensive version comes with 12 GB of LPDRR5 RAM, just like the S20, and up to 256GB UFS3.0 of internal memory.
As for the camera department it carries an quad-camera setup at the rear with a 48MP primary camera, 48MP ultra-wide camera, 3X telephoto camera, and a color filter sensor. There’s a hybrid stabilization system that uses OIS and EIS and three microphones for high-quality audio. At the front, like the OnePlus 8, its the same 16 MP “hole-punch” located at the left corner of the display.
OnePlus 8 Pro packs a 4,510 mAh battery, which is 10% bigger than the battery capacity of OnePlus 7T Pro, supports 30W Warp Charge 30T wired charging and 30W Warp Charge 30 Wireless charging with reverse charging support. The phone will ship with Android 10 out of the box and will be available in Ultramarine Blue, Onyx Black, and Glacial Green color options.
As for the connectivity, both phones support dual SIM, Bluetooth 5.1, Wi-FI 6, NFC, and USB-C connectivity. Unfortunately there’s no 3.5mm headphone jack on either phone, and you won’t be able to expand storage with an SD card. OnePlus 8 is IP68 water and dust resistance rating and this is another advantage of the Pro model.
