Internet advertising revenue officially exceeded $100 billion, increasing by 386% compared to a decade ago according to IAB and PwC.
More than half of the revenues come from mobile platforms. Almost a decade ago advertisers did not use mobile platforms to advertise.
But as consumers are moving toward mobile devices, advertisers have gone after. With the growing popularity of smartphones, advertisers began to realize the new advertising potential.
Nine years later, these platforms generates half of the dollars spent on online advertising.
Revenues from these platforms have high potential due to creative forms of advertising and social media advertising. Some analysts worry that the revenue spent on earning consumer attention will fall.
But others are confident that the industry will evolve in such a way as to allow further expansion of the digital ecosystem and revenue generated by it.
