In addition to Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro, Huawei also launched a 7.12-inch smartphone called “Mate 20X” yesterday. 20X contains most of the regular Mate 20 specifications, but improves them in several key areas.
The most obvious of these is, of course, the screen size, making it more than a tablet than a phone. It is an OLED panel and has a Full HD + resolution, with a 18.7: 9 aspect ratio.
Larger dimensions also imply that Huawei was able to fit a larger battery of 5,000mAh in 20X compared to 4,000mAh of Mate 20. The company claims the phone is 30% more efficient.
Given the features similar to the tablet, Huawei has made some software changes so that using 20X in landscape mode will give a tablet-like UI.
In addition, Mate 20X is very similar to the smallest model, with a Kirin 980 processor that empowers everything. The camera’s configuration is also imitated, with a 40MP main camera paired with a 8MP 2x zoom telephoto lens and a 20MP wide angle lens.
The Mate 20X version of the 6GB + 128GB version will be available in Europe for $899 from October 26th.
