AMD introduced two new processors for laptops, the Ryzen 9 4900H and 4900HS
The chips are the most powerful of the new AMD 4000 Mobile Series line based on the 7-nanometer Zen 2 architecture and are designed to compete with Intel’s Core i9 line.
New processors are expected to appear on new laptops this spring. They provide desktop-level gaming experience for laptops. AMD said the 4900HS will feature the Asus 14-inch ROG Zephyrys G14, which the company considers the world’s most powerful 14-inch gaming laptop.
The Ryzen 4900HS 35W has eight cores with 16-process design and 3.0Ghz speed that can go up to 4.3Ghz. The 4900H is 45W and has a base frequency of 3.3Ghz and turbo 4.4Ghz.
AMD promises superior performance over Intel processors. In AMD testing, the 4900HS is 285 faster than the Core i9-9880H on the Cinebench R20, 23% on video transcoding, 56% on image processing and 32% on sound recording. The Core i9 won by 8% on PCMark 10 DCC.
AMD also claims that the 4900HS along with an Nvidia RTX 2060 Max-Q can exceed 60 frequencies per second, on Rise of the Tomb Raider at 104fps, Hitman at 90fps and Far Cry 5 at 90fps.
