New security flaws could affect all versions of Windows, millions of users at risk

Some major security flaws have affected all versions of Windows since Windows XP. These bugs were made public today, but it took Microsoft 90 days to make the security update.

It’s turned into a war against time for IT administrators around the world to make sure all Windows devices are up to date before hackers exploit security gaps.

In a report this morning, Google security researcher Tavis Ormandy discovered an critical design flaws in a module that is inside the Windows platform, since Windows XP.

“It has been possible for NT security breach of security limits for almost 20 years, and nobody notices anything,” said Ormandy, who is part of Google’s Zero Project’s elite security team.

In short, the vulnerabilities found allow attackers to remotely control a Window device.

Below is a video showing how an attacker can manage to gain administrative privileges on Windows using Ormandy detection.

What surprises us in this Windows security alert is that it has no CTF access control, leaving an attacker with no administrative privileges, remotely controlling any Windows application, and even the operating system of Windows device.

The second surprise is Microsoft’s slow response to Ormandy’s discovery. According to Google security researcher, it took more than a month for Microsoft to react after it shared its unveil with the software giant.

Well, system administrators around the world have higher expectations for the trillion-dollar company.

Realme 5 and 5 Pro with four cameras, will be launched this month

For Realme, jumping on four cameras is happening, though initially it won’t bring the 64MP sensor.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

It appears that the company is taking a slow approach to updating the camera device on their phones, with the initial phase of adding four cameras, and in the second phase is upgrading the camera sensor to a 64MP unit.

According to one of the latest posts from the phone manufacturer on Twitter, August 20 is the day for the launch of the company’s first four-camera phone.

It will consist of a main camera, an ultra wide angle lens, a super macro camera and one for portraits.

If, however, you want to expect the four-camera phone based on the 64MP sensor, you have to make a difficult decision. You have to outbid the Realme 5 or 5 Pro and wait until October or more for the 64MP phone launch.

Facebook admits that it has been listening your voice

Microsoft, Google, Apple, and Amazon have all admitted in recent weeks that they’ve heard your voice, whether from your virtual assistant, your smart speakers or your Skype calls.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

Now surprisingly, Facebook has also joined their ranks and admitted to using contractors to listen to users’ voices.

Bloomberg reports that the company has asked its contractors to transcribe voice conversations in order to evaluate the accuracy of voice recognition systems.

The report suggests that some of Facebook’s own contractors thought their work was unethical, as they were unaware of the source of these recordings and because users were not informed that third parties would have access to their data.

While the company’s data usage policy mentions that “systems automatically process content and communications that you and others provide to analyze the context”, there is no mention of human review of audio content.

Facebook insisted that only those who agreed had their audio transcribed from the program. The company also told Bloomberg that it had stopped the practice a week earlier.

All of this comes in the context of a constant blocking of company-related privacy scandals.

Cambridge Analytica scandal alone has resulted in the company facing multi-million dollar fines from various regulatory bodies, including a $5 billion deal with the FTC for privacy violations.

A dual screen folding phone is patented by LG

The last time, and probably the first, we’ve seen a dual folding phone was when Xiaomi started promoting their folding approach, with leaks beginning in January, followed by official marketing and more in March.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

It seems that the Chinese company is not the only one exploring the idea.

LG avoided the folding device theme last year, as the company preferred to go with a secondary display for the V50 ThinQ, and its next successor at IFA 2019, but can be dropped directly into a dual folding phone, such as its patent. featured in recently reveals.

Filed in China on March 6, this year, the patent describes and shows, through its sketches, a phone that would have a double fold, which, when unfolded, would be twice as wide as the folded version of his.

Whether the device will remain just a concept or will be put into production remains to be seen.

Samsung reveals the 108-megapixel camera for smartphones

While the megapixel camera war seems to have resumed, Samsung is among the first to launch an offensive. The company revealed the 108-megapixel sensor for smartphones, a sensor that will most likely be displayed on Xiaomi‘s upcoming Redmi phone.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

It’s called ISOCELL Bright HMX and was developed by Samsung in collaboration with Xiaomi. It’s one of the largest 1/1.33-inch camera sensors ever produced. Even at this size, the 108-megapixel sensor will have very small pixels. Tetracell technology will collect light by four pixels and the 108-megapixel sensor will produce 27-megapixel photos.

But if you want you can still produce 108-megapixel photos but you will need an ambient with enough light.

Samsung’s Smart-ISO mechanism will select a small ISO in high light and a large ISO in low light. We hope Xiaomi gives users control over these configurations. Along with high resolution photos and clear low-light photos, the sensor will enable video recording at 6K at 30fps.

Samsung’s latest cameras have been criticized for poor performance in low light especially when compared to cameras like the P30 Pro that use Sony chips. By increasing the size of the camera chip, Samsung can eventually address this problem.

At the same time the bigger the camera of a smartphone, the less reason for consumers to buy dedicated and compact cameras. Production of the new chip begins at the end of this month, Samsung said.

The security firm Check Point has found a way to hack every iPhone and iPad running iOS 8 to iOS 13.

This includes the eight years devices, as iOS 8 can be found on the 2011 iPhone 4S. There are about 1.4 billion active iOS devices around the world, and the owners of these phones have to worry.

Check Point has discovered that the iOS built-in Contacts app can be accessed using the industry’s SQLite database. Any searches users make in the Contacts app can lead to the execution of viral codes capable of stealing user data and passwords.

Huawei breaks the silence, launches their operating system – Harmony OS

Today at the Huawei Developers Conference, CEO of the company’s Consumer Business Group Richard Yu, surprised the audience by unveiling “Harmony OS“, which he says is faster and more secure than Android.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

The software is aimed at IoT products instead of smartphones. Harmony OS is an operating system for all platforms, compatible for desktops and smartphones.

According to Yu, once Huawei can no longer access Google’s Android, it can run “Harmony OS” immediately. Until then, Huawei will continue with Android.

The platform is open source, and is in fact more of a competitor to future Google Fuchsia, given that both are microcornel-based and can be used on multiple devices at the same time.

In contrast, according to Yu’s presentation, Andoid is not as efficient due to its redundant codes, outdated planning mechanism and fragmentation issues.

But Harmony OS, thanks to the microcornel design, is more secure because it lacks root access, so it is protected from external service isolation.

In addition to a lighter system, Huawei says the Harmony OS will provide performance improvements. One of these is the “Deterministic Latency Engine”, which can allocate system resources using real-time analytics and forecasts. Android, on the other hand, has stuck with the less intelligent Linux mechanism.

Huawei states that HarmonyOS’s IPC performance is 5-times as Google’s Fuschia , 3-times as QNX’s.

Google has the chance to become the first smartphone maker to control the phone with gestures without touching the screen, thanks to a unique technology.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

According to 9to5Google, Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will have 90Hz fast OLED screens. Like the OnePlus 7 Pro and a few phones of its kind, the Pixel 4 will have an ideal display for playing games and watching high-frequency video.

Some tricks may have even been saved for the camera. It’s no secret that the Pixel 4 will have two 12 + 16-megapixel rear cameras, and speculated they will feature a DSLR level performance.

Both Pixels will come with stereo speakers while the rest of the specs are family-friendly like the Snapdragon 855 with 6GB of RAM and at least 64GB of internal storage.

The screen’s “Notch” has been eliminated in order to create space for gesture radar and facial recognition sensors.
