OnePlus plans to build its first smart TV next year

OnePlus plans to build its first smart TV next year

Everyone might be waiting for the OnePlus 6T, but the company has more than smartphones up its sleeve. OnePlus today announced it’s entering the smart TV game.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

The company doesn’t provide much in the way of hard details, but CEO Pete Lau penned a blog post explaining the new project:

We want to bring the home environment to the next level of intelligent connectivity. To do this, we are building a new product of OnePlus’ premium flagship design, image quality and audio experience to more seamlessly connect the home.

We call it: OnePlus TV.

In an interview with Business Insider, Lau said OnePlus plans to release its first TV in 2019, but it will take some time to perfect. “It won’t be something that’s perfect and absolutely complete and revolutionary from the start,” said Lau. The TV will receive updates to make it smarter over the next five years, becoming more connected to your smartphone along the way.

Some ideas of what the TV could do include easily streaming media from your phone and showing information about your upcoming meetings or commute – kind of like Amazon’s Echo show or Google Assistant-powered displays. There will also be a camera on the TV – video calling comes to mind – but Lau says OnePlus will have a solution for those concerned about privacy.

OnePlus didn’t specify whether the TV would run on an an existing platform like Android TV or something new altogether, but the company is talking with major players in the industry to support current smart home systems.

It’s a surprising turn of events, but OnePlus says its equipped to enter the TV space after the time its spent making smartphones. The company has long prided itself on providing flagship performance and design at highly competitive prices – here’s hoping it can bring the same to the TV market.

Google Chrome gets a big redesign and new features for its 10th birthday

Google Chrome gets a big redesign and new features for its 10th birthday

Chrome is turning ten, and it’s getting a makeover to celebrate. Google today announced a wide set of changes coming to the world’s most popular browser – some aesthetic, and some functional.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

Most notably, the app now has a flatter, rounder design more in line with Google’s Material Design principles; these changes will be seen on both mobile and desktop. Website icons are now easier to see when you’ve overloaded a window with tabs, and menus and other design elements have been tweaked and simplified throughout various versions of the app.

(Truth be told, we’ve been seeing these changes in Chrome betas for ages, but it’s nice to finally see them roll out.)

In terms of utility, here are some of the most notable changes:

  • Chrome revamped its autofill and password manager to be more accurate across different sites.
  • Speaking of passwords, Chrome can now auto-generate a strong password that will be linked to your Google account. Think barebones LastPass, right in Chrome.
  • The search bar – officially known as the Omnibox – can now show you more information without needing to open a new tab.
  • You can now search for a specific tab within the Omnibox, useful for when you’re inundated with tabs too small to read.
  • You’ll soon be able to search through your Google Drive right from the search bar.
  • You can now create shortcuts for your favorite sites on the new tab page, as well as set a background image.

The update is rolling out to users today. In case you’re wondering about performance, Google says it continues to work on improving startup time, latency, memory use and more, although it doesn’t seem we’ll see changes there to this particular build.

Hopefully sooner rather than later. A man can dream.

If you have an iPhone, you should check if it’s in the list of those with a defect

Apple has discovered over the last few days that “a very small percentage” of the iPhone 8 have defects from the factory from which its screen may be blocked, causing the device to unexpectedly restart.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

Users who own an iPhone 8 can see if their smartphone is affected by this problem by writing their serial number on a web page on the Apple website.

The good news is that Apple will repair any iPhone 8 affected by this defect, free, by switching the logic tiles.

“The affected units were sold between September 2017 and March 2018 in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macau, New Zealand and the US,” Apple said.

RED Hydrogen One: The world’s first Holographic phone, Specs, Price and more

Red, a cinematography camera manufacturing company has announced that they are launching a brand new smartphone called the RED Hydrogen One. This is the world’s first Holographic phone.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

The Red Hydrogen One is a standalone full-featured, unlocked multi-band smartphone operating on Android OS that just happens to add a few additional features that shatter the mold of conventional thinking.

The processor inside will be a slightly out-of-date Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, but it seemed fast enough in the few demos I was able to try. Honestly, though, if you’re looking to get this thing just as a phone, you’re probably making your decision based on the wrong metrics. It’s probably going to be a perfectly capable phone, but at this price, what you’re buying into is the module ecosystem.

GLASSES OBSOLETE

Wearable display not spoken here. It is no longer necessary to carry (or charge) another device to enjoy the multi-dimensional content. Experience “look around depth” in the palm of your hand, no glasses or headsets in sight.

DISPLAY

This incredible retina-riveting display advancement features nanotechnology that seamlessly switches between traditional 2D content, holographic multi-view content, 3D content, and interactive games… both landscape and portrait modes supported.

  • View all traditional 2D content normally at full-screen resolution
  • view holographic RED Hydrogen 4-View content (H4V)
  • View stereo 3D content
  • View 2D/3D VR, AR, and MR

ASSAULT YOUR SENSE

Embedded in the OS is a proprietary H3O algorithm that converts stereo sound into expensive multi-dimensional audio Think 5.1 on your headphones. The perfect match for holographic H4V or just listening to your favorite tunes, The difference this makes would be enough to justify the entire system.

MODULARITY

HYDROGEN ONE is the foundation of a future multi-dimensional media system. The HYDROGEN SYSTEM incorporates a new high-speed data bus to enable a comprehensive and ever-expanding modular component system, which will include future attachments for shooting higher quality motion and still images as well as HYDROGEn formate holographic images.

COMMAND CENTRAL

The HYDROGEN ONE will not only be the control center for HYDROGEN system, it will also integrate into the professional RED camera program, working together with Scarlet, EPIC, and weapon as a user interface and monitor.

RED CHANNEL

One channel to find all 4-View holographic content. Create .h4v (or convert 3D to .h4v) content and upload. Download or stream to view. Movies, documentaries, games, shopping, and other apps all found with one click.

PRICE

Prices for the Hydrogen One start at $1,195 for the aluminum variant, or $1,595 for the more premium titanium version.

Facebook Watch, the novelty of the social network that challenges television

The Facebook video service “Watch” is now spread all over the world, more than a year after its launch in the United States.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

Users will be able to choose from a wide range of shows, either from the most popular brands and debutants, and also have the ability to watch clips that they have saved from the “News Feeds” news interface.

The firm also plans to allow all creators to display publicity as long as they meet certain conditions. So far, only some publishers have been given this opportunity.

At first, only audiences in Britain, America, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand will have this kind of relief. The revenue will be allocated 55 percent for creators and 45 percent for Facebook.

The most famous social network was to announce the extent of this service worldwide this Wednesday, but it slightly accelerated the news as some details went wrong in public. Consequently, some users may not be able to see the new site of this service.

“Watch” is often regarded as a “Youtube” rival by Google, but it will also compete with traditional TV channels, as well as online platforms like Netflix, Amazon Video, BBC iPlayer and Instagram TV (also owned by Facebook).

A new feature on YouTube has emerged that shows how much time you spend watching videos

A new feature on YouTube has emerged that shows how much time you spend watching videos

Big technology companies like Google and Apple slowly but in the secure way, are confident that people are more and more dependent on their phones – and that’s not a good thing.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

The two companies are bringing features aimed at helping people track down how long they spend on their devices – and Google’s latest effort to help people track their use comes in the form of a new “Duration” in the YouTube app, integrating with the Android‘s Digital Wellbeing feature.

In the Time Watched section of the YouTube app, which is available in both iOS and Android version of the app, you can see how much time you’ve spent watching the videos on that special day, the first day, and the past 7 days .

You will also get a daily average. Statistics do not just flow from the past while watching videos on the phone – when you watch videos on YouTube and you’re signed in to your Google Account from a computer, the data will be counted in statistics. However, YouTube Music and YouTube TV are not included.

“Our goal is to give you a better understanding of the time spent on YouTube, so you can make informed decisions about how YouTube wants to fit best in your life,” Google said in blogging of them, reports tg.

To find the Time Watched menu in the YouTube app, just go to the Account menu by clicking on your profile picture in the top right corner. Then click the Time Watched option, and you should be able to see your stats.

Google is also promising that Digital Wellbeing on Android, which is currently in beta, will be able to connect to Time Watched in the YouTube app.

How true is Google knowing everything about us ?! Learn it now

How true is Google knowing everything about us ?! Learn it now

The University of Vanderbilt gives an accurate look at how much data collects Google from its users.

Researchers reviewed how the search giant collects information from Android mobile devices, Chrome browsers, YouTube and Photos, among other Google products.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

But the most bizarre discovery, discovered by the survey is likely google to continue to collect data even when users are browsing incognito mode.

Google collects data in “active” ways, such as when users enter an application, and “passive” ways that users are less likely to be aware of.

In this scenario, an app is designed to collect user information when it is at work, sometimes without the user’s knowledge.

“The scale and size of Google’s passive data collection is largely driven by past studies on this topic,” according to the study, which was published on Tuesday.

Most people assume that their browsing history is hidden by Google when using private browsers. However, the study explains that Google can still link data from a secret browser to a particular user.

This is because if a user enters a Google Account while a private browser is open, the “cookies” left behind in the hidden window can identify them.

If you close the incognito window before entering a Google account, then the data will be deleted.
