Acer unveiled the first 5G laptop at IFA 2020
The Acer Spin 7 is not only Acer’s first 5G laptop but also the first laptop with the new Snapdragon 8CX Gen 2 processor that brings mobile architecture to computers.
This processor brings support for 5G mmWave and sub-6Ghz technology and also plays nice with Wi-Fi 6. The laptop can be turned into a tablet through a 360-degree axis. The screen is a 14-inch IPS 1080p FHD touch panel which covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut and made of Antimicrobial Corning Gorilla Glass. The laptop has two USB-C ports and a USB-A port for older devices.
Another distinguishing feature of this laptop is the battery life. Acer believes the Spin 7 battery can last for several days, thanks to a combination of Snapdragon smartphone processor designed for laptops and the latest battery technology.
Of course, the claims that battery can last for a few days depend on the level of use but describing it as such becomes more appealing to users. Finally, the laptop has a stylus pencil with 4,096 pressure levels that can be caught on the side of the computer to recharge.
The device weighs 3.1 pounds, is only 0.6 inches thick while is made form a magnesium-aluminum alloy. Much more remains to be learned about the laptop but what is to be in the spotlight is its battery life.
