Instagram is testing design changes to user profiles

Instagram‘s design has evolved over the years, and as expected by most developers, changes are constantly being made to help improve the look and feel of the app. In fact, in a post by Instagram, the company has confirmed that they are testing some changes to the user profile page, where they will relocate some of the UI elements.

According to Instagram, “Over the next few weeks, you can see the features reorganized at the top of your profile, including changes to icons, buttons, and navigation mode between the sectors, which we hope to make the profiles easier and more clean to use. The photos and videos you share on your network will not change. “

The company added that these are tests and that what you see in the above images may not necessarily be the ultimate product as they will experience different combinations to see what’s best.

“We have worked on these changes and will test them in different phases and combinations with our community over the next few weeks. We will continue to experiment and update the experience as we learn from your feedback. “

It is unclear whether any of these changes will apply but if you are an Instagram user, do not be surprised if your profile page is a bit different from what you have been using so far.

YouTube brings movies free of charge, but with ads

YouTube recently started publishing a number of feature films that viewers can watch for free, supported by advertisements.While the selection is not great, there are some of the famous films such as The Terminator, Legally Blonde and Rocky.

According to AdAge, the video platform began to release movies in October with a “Free to Watch” category in the movie industry where users have traditionally bought or rented movies. Movies come with commercial interruptions, with advertisements appearing at regular intervals.

Rohit Dhawan, managing director of YouTube products, told AdAge that the company saw an opportunity for consumers and advertisers and notes that there may be a way for advertisers to “sponsor” movies or display it exclusively.

At present, the selection is limited to 100 films, a selection that Dhawan says will eventually expand.

TechCrunch states that Walmart has its own free movie selection at Vudu, while Tubi has its own large selection of free movies.

YouTube’s effort in this area makes sense – AdAge notes that more and more people are entering YouTube from smart TVs and distributing free advertising-supported movies can be a big new audience for the network wide advertising site.

Sticker Studio: Now you can convert any photo to sticker for WhatsApp.

WhatsApp featured stickers on their platform just last month, and offered a package that was previously available on Facebook Messenger. But if you’re on Android, you can easily create ‘stickers’ yourself on your phone.

This is thanks to Sticker Studio, a free app, built by Sven van der Zee, a former TNW developer, reports The Next Web.

You can put pictures or import images, and simply draw a part around the object you want to transform into a sticker.

There are some strange limitations: you will need to create at least three stickers before exporting a bundle of them to WhatsApp. You are limited to 10 packs with a maximum of 30 packet stickers, refer Telegraph.

Anyway, it is very entertaining for those who have energetic people in their lives.

That’s all you can do now; Sticker Studio currently does not allow you to change images or add effects – but these features are under development.

The app is on Google Play and can be downloaded free of charge.

Google launches Squoosh, the photo conversion application

The Google Developer Conference for Chrome is underway and one of the things that came out of it was the official discovery of Squoosh yesterday, an online service designed to showcase your browser’s new capabilities.

Squoosh is an online image converter that converts the images you upload into different formats. This app is not designed as a competitor of similar platforms, but as a service for new Internet technologies.

The service works on some web browsers and not just in Chrome.

Squoosh takes an image source and turns it into one of the supported formats. The process is automatic and occurs locally after the initial download of the app in the browser.

The application supports the OptiPNG, MozJPG, WebP and PNG, JPG, and WebP formats. A line divides the image into the original version and the converted version.

It’s easy to switch to another format and change its settings. Simply click on the format selector and select a new format: the app converts the image to the selected format and displays it immediately in the viewing area.

One click on the download button saves the converted image to the local system.
