Huawei has found a way to bypass US sanctions

While awaiting the debut of the Mate 30, Huawei today unveiled a redesigned version of the P30 Pro.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

Unlike the existing P30 Pro, the new model comes with a tailgate made of two materials: glossy and matte as well as blue or lavender. While the design is new, the P30 Pro comes with pre-installed Android 10, Huawei’s smart way to launch a new product with Google’s latest operating system.

Like the existing P30 Pro model, the new colors retain the same Kirin 980 processor. Huawei today launched the Kirin 990 chip with a built-in 5G modem.

The processor will actually debut on the Mate 30 at the end of the month and is an interesting debut to follow. Last month Google revealed that the Huawei Mate 30 will not come with Google apps and services, which means it is not certified for the Google Play Store.

It remains to be seen what will happen to Mate 30 on September 19. The White House has banned US companies, such as Google, from doing business with Huawei, and the smartphone maker received a three-month permit in early May to continue delivering software updates.

The permit was extended for a further 3 months until November 19 but covers only existing equipment. Until the ban is lifted, Huawei has nothing more than to redesign the devices and add the latest version of the operating system for Europe and the US.

Samsung: Galaxy Fold launches globally on September 27th

Originally alluded to on September 6, later confirmed, and then on September 27 globally, the Samsung Galaxy Fold is finally making its way to stores.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

Samsung announced yesterday that the late but now the upgraded Galaxy Fold is available starting September 6 in Korea.

The phone will make its way to other countries, including France, Germany, Singapore, the US and more, at a later, unspecified date. It will be available in Cosmos Black and Space Silver, as well as a 5G option in certain markets.

“Now, we are excited to launch this pioneering technology and allow consumers to try it on their own,” said DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, at Samsung Electronics.

Samsung Galaxy Fold 5G, available in select markets, will be a direct competitor to Huawei’s Mate X, as the Chinese folding device is a 5G capable phone. For the US, this means that the device will be launched “in the coming weeks,” according to Samsung.

Xiaomi plans not 1 but 4 phones with 108-megapixel camera

Last month Samsung revealed the largest single camera sensor for smartphones, the 108-megapixel 1/1.33 ISOCELL Birght HMX model.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

Xiaomi will be the first company to sell a device with this camera and to date speculation has led us to the Mi Mix 4 debuting in October. However, according to XDA Developers, the Chinese company is actually working on four different smartphones that will have the 108-mgapixel camera. Their codename is “tucana,” “draco,” “umi,” and “cmi.”

Although the sensor is 108-megapixels, it will capture 27-megapixel photos by combining four pixels into one to absorb more light.

The 108-megapixel sensor was introduced last month, and like Sony, the company hasn’t decided to bring it to its phones right away. The company just a few days ago introduced a 48-megapixel camera phone, not even with the other 64-megapixel Samsung sensor.

There is no information about Xiaomi phones except for the Chinese giant. The question is how much will such a camera affect the price of smartphones?

Samsung foldable phone on sale from September 6th

Samsung said in July that it had made the right improvements to the Galaxy Fold display, and today the company said the $2,000 device goes on sale on September 6 starting in South Korea.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

It will be launched in the US and the rest of the world in two weeks. The company will also offer something new that it calls “Galaxy Fold Premier Service” although details about it are missing is a 24/7 support service for Galaxy Fold buyers.

This service is included in the price of the phone. Samsung initially decided to postpone the official debut date in April after the first phone analysts found problems with the folding mechanism. Some of them removed a protective film, that was designed to be permanent there, by damaging the panel. Some models got dirt into the folding mechanism by damaging the screen.

Samsung responded immediately by delaying the $1,980 device debut and canceling orders. At first it seemed that the Galaxy Fold would never reach the stores but Samsung says it has addressed the problem by extending the protective film beyond the frame.

It has also added reinforcements to the protection mechanism to guard against dirt. We expect Samsung to provide more details about debut dates in other regions in the coming days.

Samsung’s new processor brings 5G to mid-range phones

Samsung unveiled the first mobile processor which combines a 5G modem and processor into a single chip and is called the Exynos 980.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

To date, a second chip is needed for the 5G modem alongside the processor chip, while the new model paves the way for more compact designs and higher battery life.

Exynos 980 promises gigabit speeds on 4G LTE and up to 2.55Gbps on 5G network and 6Ghz frequency. The processor also offers support for the new Wi-Fi 6 IEEE 802.11ax standard.

Inside features two Cortex-A77 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores combined with Mali-G76 graphics for video games and added reality experiences. The processor even has a built-in neural unit (NPU) which means that tasks related to artificial intelligence can be processed on the device rather than sent to a server.

Samsung says the Exynos 980 NPU is 2.7 times faster than its predecessor. Finally comes with an image processor that can process up to 108 million pixels and five individual camera sensors.

This is a big step for Samsung and the industry. While 5G is tomorrow’s standard, people expect more and more speed and performance from phones every day. Of course 5G faces other challenges such as coverage, security but also the equipment available to utilize it.

Android 10

The latest and the best version of Android has arrived

Android 10 or Android Q, or call it whatever you want, is now official and available to anyone with a Google Pixel phone.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

But phones from other companies that were able to test the latest version of Android will soon be able to get finalized.

Since Android development takes place over a period of time, the final version contains no unheard of news. With Android 10 most of the changes are in the background except for two or three of them.

What everyone has been waiting for is obviously “Dark Mode” and Android 10 doesn’t disappoint. The new interface is ready to use from sundown to dawn.

Not only does it lighten the burden that light on electronic devices exerts on our eyes, but it also puts pressure on the smartphone battery if you have one with an OLED display.

Over time many applications will adopt the dark interface but for the time being it is limited. Dark Mode on Android 10 is in system level.

Another big difference is updating the navigation gestures between apps. New gestures are optional and you can still use the three-button navigation at the bottom of the screen. The new navigation gestures on Android 10 are a continuation of those on Android Pie but more efficient. Swiping left or right over the screen replaces the back button. Holding down on the side of the screen opens the navigation panel.

One innovation is the “Smart Reply” feature which suggests different actions with a notification directly from the Notification panel. If a notification contains a link, Smart Reply suggests opening it in Chrome. Same for addresses suggesting opening on Google Maps, or videos opening on Youtube.

There are also some new privacy and security options such as location sharing only when using an app as well as the new privacy section in Settings which gives you access to web and app history management.

Also with system updates from Google Play, the company is already addressing security issues from the Google Play Store rather than through the system update feature.

Finally, two very important features are expected in the upcoming versions: Focus Mode and Live Caption. The first makes it possible to “silence” certain applications while the second provides subtitles for videos and audio you play on your phone.

Samsung Plans a Second Foldable Phone

Failing to launch its first folding phone, Samsung has begun working on a smaller one – this time with a luxury clothing company.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

Bloomberg reports that Samsung is committed to a foldable phone, with a 6.7-inch vertical screen that can be folded in half and squared off, like phones once folded.

It is rumored that Samsung is planning a second foldable phone, which will have these features and will launch early next year.

The glass of the phone will be three percent more fractured and likely to return to normal state better than the Galaxy Fold model, while other specifications have not been revealed.

The co-op chosen for this phone is the luxury clothing company Zegna, which will take care of the phone design. While with Fold has not meet the expectations, Samsung is thought to have learned from the mistakes and succeeded with the new phone that could be much better.

Samsung Galaxy A90

Samsung Galaxy A90 is a mid-range Phone with high-end Specifications

Most of the 5G phones we have seen recently have been flagships of big names like Galaxy Note 10 Plus 5G, Galaxy S10+ 5G or OnePlus 7 Pro 5G.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″]

But Samsung‘s latest 5G phone is a mid-range phone and belongs to the Galaxy A line.

In recent months the company has introduced other mid-range Galaxy A models that come with high-end options such as four-camera systems in an effort to combat the aggressive competition of Chinese manufacturers.

Such is the case with the Galaxy A90 5G which also has support for the Samsung DeX. Galaxy A90 5G has a Snapdragon 855 processor, 6 or 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

The 6.7-inch display is a 1080p OLED panel with a small “Infinity-U” notch and a built-in fingerprint scanner. At the rear is a triple camera system with a 48-megapixel main sensor, an 8-megapixel super wide camera and a 5-megapixel depth sensor along with a 32-megapixel selfie camera.

The battery is 4,500 mAh and is powered by 25W technology. 5G of course makes a difference to phones of the same category as the Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro. The phone is on sale today in South Korea while the company has not provided details about the price.

Huawei unveils the debut date of Mate 30

There has been endless speculation about the Huawei Mate 30 phone, but finally we have something official: the phone launches on September 19 in Munich.

[td_block_ad_box spot_id=”custom_ad_2″ tdc_css=””]

The date was revealed by Huawei Mobile’s Twitter account with a 7-second short video focusing on the smartphone camera.

The invitation reads “Re-think the Possible.” But the big surprise is that Mate 30 phones won’t have Google apps and services thanks to the trade war between the US and China.

It is possible that Google may apply an exception for Mate 30 devices and if not, Huawei will have to rely on its own Harmony OS operating system.

How it all ends up is not known until the phone debuts. But what we expect is a Mate 30 and a Mate 30 Pro. Previously leaked images suggest a rounded space containing rear cameras.

There has also been talk of wireless charging technology, but the main focus will be on software and applications that the Huawei Mate 30 will have. From the data provided by Huawei it is expected a photographic power that will make the difference.
