Intel: Core i9-10900K is up to 30% faster than the i9-9900K

According to Intel, the company’s next desktop processor, Core i9-10900K, is up to 30 percent faster than the Core i9-9900K model. The company has created a performance slide that appeared online, TechPowerUp reports.

Core i9-10900K processor is based on the 14nm “Comet Lake-S” architecture and is designed for the new LGA1200 platform (Intel 400-series motherboards). The processor has 10 cores and 20 threades, with a TDP of 125W. Thanks to additional CPU cores, the Core i9-10900K offers up to 25% processing overhead compared to the i9-9900K.

The slide shows some other improvements the chipset will implement, such as a 26% better result on the Cinebench R15, and 10% more on the SYSMark 2014 SE. In non-core tests, Intel relied on increased tact speed and an improved boosting algorithm to deliver improved results.

Intel is introducing new working tactile technology called Thermal Velocity Boost, which can increase the tactical speed of the Core i9-10900K processor up to 5.30GHz.

Samsung revealed Galaxy Book Flex α, with Intel 10th-gen processors and QLED display

Last year, Samsung introduced the Samsung Galaxy Book Flex, which came in both 13- and 15-inch variants. Yesterday, before the launch of CES, the company has announced a new, apparently lower-cost member of this line, the Galaxy Book Flex α.

This new device shares much with the original, with a convertible form factor, a 13.3-inch Full HD QLED touchscreen display, and 10th-generation Intel processors. The screen also supports an active style, as in the previous model, but does not come with an S Pen.

Galaxy Book Flex Alpha weighs 1.19 pounds, while Galaxy Book Flex weighs 1.1 kg. The Book Ion has a starting weight of 0.9 kg (1.1 kg for the 15-inch model). The thickness of the Alpha model is 13.9 mm, while the weight of the other two laptops is 12.9 mm.

To make it at a lower sales price, Samsung also had to make some compromises on the Flex Alpha model. Available is a smaller 54Whr battery (compared to 69.7 Whr on the other two laptops). The graphics processor is also limited and uses the Intel UHD option. Also, the maximum storage space is up to 512 GB SSD, while the RAM options go up to 12 GB.

Like the Flex and Ion models, the Flex Alpha has a fingerprint sensor on the keyboard and is characterized by a significant number of ports. Two USB 3.0 ports, a USB-C slot, an HDMI connector and a microSD card reader are offered.

Galaxy Book Flex Alpha has 10th-generation Intel Core processors, WiFi 6 support and stereo speakers. Samsung has not given a specific launch date, and the company says the laptop is expected in the first half of 2020, starting at $829.99.

Samsung may introduce a real “zero frame” TV at CES 2020

Samsung may soon fulfill its promise, which it once made, to introduce frameless TVs. Sources suggest that the South Korean company plans to introduce ‘zero bezel’ TV during the CES 2020 event earlier this month, with mass production of the TV set to begin in February.

More concrete details are not available, but it is suggested that the design will conceive the screen and the main housing of the adjacent TV to eliminate the usual frames, and this will apply to models 56 inches or higher.

Samsung has so far confirmed nothing about the project, so rumors have to be taken with caution. However, it is interesting to note that Samsung in early 2019 had protected the trademark for the brand “Zero Bezel”, which may indicate the company’s plans.

The assumption is that such a TV, if it appears on the market, will be very expensive. Samsung is developing the chips needed to support 8K, while combining exotic design with a large panel would mean that even “ordinary” 8K TVs would be priced high.

New Intel Tiger Lake processors with GPU Xe announced

Intel is still working on developing the Xe GPU, and the same can be said for the upcoming Tiger Lake processors. More details have now emerged about the Xe DG1 graphics processor, reports TweakTown.

Recent reports suggest that the new Intel Xe DG1 GPU has been noted in the ECC listing, indicating that the DG1 will be able to use 96 EU (Execution Units) and up to 768 shaders. This means that the GPU would fall to the bottom of the graphics card, almost in line with the current integrated graphics up to the GeForce GT 1030.

Intel Tiger Lake is expected to reach 96 EU based on Gen12 X graphics (compared to 72 EU on Skylake, 48 EU on Broadwell and 40 EU on Haswell models. More information on Xe and DG1 is expected at the upcoming CES 2020 fair in Las Vegas.

Adata expands its product offering with monitors, laptops and PC gaming

Adata currently sells memory solutions such as SSD and DRAM. However, the company is planning to change tactics starting in 2020. For starters, Adata wants to start selling more products that will be part of the Xtreme Performance Gear (XPG) line, reports TechPowerUp.

XPG will thus offer new products such as monitors, laptops, gaming computers and PC cases. Adata is planning to cover the new market segment and position itself as a strong brand for PC gaming products. More details about the new product line will be revealed during the CES 2020 fair, but there is information on what will make it.

For starters, the XPG line-up will offer the Xenia 15 laptop, a 15.6-inch 1080p IPS gaming laptop and a ninth-generation Intel Core i9 processor. Also offered is PC gaming called the XPG Gaia -a mini PC with a PCIe graphics card slot.

Western Digital reveals the world’s first 20TB SMR HDD

Western Digital for the first time in September announced the new high capacity hard drives, which include the 20TB Ultrastar DC HC650 SMR and 18TB Ultrastar DC HC550 CMR.

The mentioned HDDs use the company’s first implementation of magnetic writing on the nine-disk platform, to enable more efficient data transfer to data center environments.

High-capacity hard drives have become the primary way of efficiently storing data across a diverse spectrum of applications. The new Western Digital 18TB and 20 TB Ultrastar HDDs allow users to implement up to 22% less slots and reduce TCOs by up to 11%. This also means reducing power consumption, reducing cooling costs, and reducing data center infrastructure compared to today’s 14TB CMR HDDs.
